At 7,302 yards from the championship tees, par 72, with a slope rating of 75.5, this is a course that respects the game and demands the same in return. The design philosophy is quintessentially Nicklaus: strategic over spectacular, rewarding placement over power, and using the natural terrain as both challenge and backdrop rather than as decoration. ## The Layout and Terrain The South Fork of the San Gabriel River winds through the course layout, creating natural hazards and framing several of the most visually striking holes. Mature live oak trees line the fairways throughout, providing both character and consequence for errant shots. The course plays through the natural topography of the Hill Country edge. Elevation changes are meaningful, views are significant, and conditions vary by season in ways that keep the layout fresh across hundreds of rounds. Five tee sets accommodate players across the full skill spectrum. The forward tees play to approximately 5,200 yards and maintain the integrity of the Nicklaus design while making the course genuinely playable for higher handicappers and juniors. ## Champion Bermuda Greens The course features Champion Bermuda greens throughout, a choice that performs exceptionally in the Texas heat while offering firm, true putting surfaces that hold their speed consistently. Managed by Troon, the course maintenance standard is what you'd expect from a major management company: meticulous conditioning year-round, with Bermuda overseeded with ryegrass through the winter transition period. ## What Membership Access Looks Like Golf membership at Cimarron Hills is layered above the mandatory social membership that comes with homeownership. Full golf members have unlimited access to tee times, the practice facility, and club tournaments. The club hosts active men's and women's golf leagues, competitive events, and member-guest tournaments throughout the season.
